You Didn't Build the Building. You Could Still Be Sued for Its Defects.

The Building (Approvals and Practitioners) Act 2026 (NSW) received assent on 14 August 2026. Apart from two specified amendments in Schedule 3, the Act will commence on a day or days appointed by proclamation. The new legislation will replace the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 (NSW), the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018 (NSW) and associated regulations as part of a broader restructuring of NSW’s building regulatory framework.
